The Idea Hotel Catania Ognina is one of the most popular hotels in Catania, it is located on the seafront promenade just in front of the marina and only 4 kilometers from Catania. The hotel can easily be reached from the main roads and from Fontanarossa airport (12 km away).

Roads
From Messina: exit at Catania tollgate and take the freeway to Catania Centro then exit at Catania EST and continue onto the bypass, go straight for 1,5 km. You will find us on the right hand side after the fountain.
From Palermo: Follow the signs to Messina highway and exit at the last sign for Catania (500 meters before Messina tollbooth) follow the signs to Catania Centro and then exit at Catania East. Go straight for 1,5 km. You will find us on the right hand side after the fountain.
Airports
From Fontanarossa Airport follow the signs for the central station then enter the Ognina promenade and go straight for 3 kilometers. As an alternative you can use the Alibus line n 457 to the train station and then the line n° 448 or 534.
Public Transportation
Take bus n°448 or 534 until you arrive at the Gulf of Ognina.
Events:
The Festival of Saint Agatha, the city’s patron saint, is the most popular religious feast in Catania. The festival takes place every year from 3rd to 5th February and on 17th August. The saint’s martyrdom day is commemorated in February while in August it is celebrated the “homecoming” of Saint Agatha’s relics in Catania after they were brought to Constantinople by the Byzantine general George Maniaces as war booty and where they remained for 86 years. It is the world’s third important feast in terms of participation: between 3rd and 6th February thousands of devotees and tourists come to Catania to join the festival.
Attractions in the surroundings:
The hotel is the ideal place to start exploring the city and the province of Catania, especially for those who travel by car. It is just a few minutes from the pictoresque fishing villages of Aci Castello and Aci Trezza and 30 minutes from Zafferana Etnea, the perfect place to start your explorations on the Etna. Driving on the A18 motorway northbound you will reach in 40 minutes the wonderful city of Taormina (50 km). In the surroundings you can take a walk along the beautiful promenade of Catania and taste the famous Granita siciliana or reach the wonderful stone beach.
